PHILADELPHIA STOCK EXCHANGE
IMPLEMENTS MICRO DESIGN SERVICE’S ENHANCED FLOOR
BROKER MANAGEMENT SYSTEM
PHILADELPHIA – August 14, 2003
- The Philadelphia Stock Exchange (PHLX) today announced
the successful implementation of Micro Design Services,
LLC’s (MDS) Floor Broker Management System (FBMS).
The FBMS allows the floor brokers to handle all orders
received at the broker booth electronically for the most
efficient and timely handling. FBMS users can trade with
the crowd and/or book via a wireless handheld device or
interact directly with the PHLX electronic book or automatic
execution system (AUTOM). This system is part of the larger
COATS (Consolidated Options Audit Trail System) V initiative,
which permits the surveillance of all orders received
on the trading floor throughout their life cycle regardless
of their origin.
At completion this summer, the rollout
will include 50 booth terminals and 45 hand held devices.
The next phase of this project, which is expected this
fall, will provide additional functionality to improve
the efficiency of the post-trade broker booth operations.
The system uses the same server as the current booth and
handheld system, also developed by MDS. MDS has developed
and implemented similar systems for the Pacific Stock
Exchange, the New York Stock Exchange and the New York
Board of Trade.
The Philadelphia Stock
Exchange
