MDS SELECTED BY AMEX AND AWARDED
CONTRACT FOR A RAPID APPLICATION DEVELOPMENT OF THE BOOTH
AUTOMATED ROUTING SYSTEM (BARS) FOR THE AMERICAN STOCK
EXCHANGE, LLC (AMEX)
MDS was selected to design and build,
under rapid application development conditions, the Booth
Automated Routing System (BARS) that provides order management
for on-the-floor member firms for securities, bonds and
options. The on-the-floor booth system includes capabilities
for receiving new orders from the exchange’s central
order file system, entry of new orders within the booths,
routing of orders to the central book or to a floor broker
hand-held computer for execution in the crowd. When rollout
of the system is completed, AMEX will have up to 300 BARS
computers operating in member firm booths on AMEX’s
New York trading floor.
